THE DISINFORMATION MACHINE has created a world in which Israel has become a country that commits genocide.
John Spencer, the American top expert in the field of urban warfare, wrote last Monday on X: ”If you still claim that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, you are either stupid and ignorant, or antisemitic.”
He then wrote: ”The antisemitic variant usually means that one applies a double standard to the definition of genocide and the laws of war, purely to delegitimize Israel’s right to exist or its right to pursue legitimate targets in a war it did not start, and/or to dehumanize every IDF soldier into a monster. I have tried to argue with the basic definitions. Genocide requires the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group as such. The evidence does not show that intent toward the people in Gaza. On the contrary, it shows exactly the opposite.”
Spencer has meticulously studied urban warfare after having fought in urban warfare himself, and he leads the Urban Warfare Project at the Modern War Institute of the military academy West Point. For some in the Netherlands, Spencer’s qualifications are insufficient; they prefer to listen to A.J. Boekestijn, J. Derksen, and F. Timmermans.
Spencer explains that Israel took extraordinary steps to prevent civilian suffering while having to fight ”an enemy that hides among them [Gazan civilians], uses hospitals and schools as bases, and treats its own population as props in a malevolent political martyrdom strategy to eliminate all Jews on the planet.”
Spencer lists the facts of enormous quantities of food that were brought in, water supplies, electricity and fuel supplies, medical supplies, field hospitals, polio vaccination campaigns. Spencer concludes: ”That is not how you try to exterminate a people.” And he writes: ”Then look at the disinformation machine.”
That machine has created a world in which Israel has become a country that commits genocide. The facts rule out that horrific conclusion, but they do not reach the news consumers.
The former British commando officer Andrew Fox recently wrote: ”For more than two years we have been telling it: Hamas uses hospitals for military purposes. The dead ’journalists’ are fighters. Hamas uses child soldiers. Aid is diverted by Hamas. Tens of thousands of dead and wounded in Gaza are fighters. Hamas uses human shields. And so many other things, which are now all irrefutably proven. Yet not a whisper to correct the story of the global media that since October 7 has been spreading lies about genocide and war crimes.”
If the facts are so irrefutable—and they are—then John Spencer is right: the denier of those facts is either stupid and ignorant, or antisemitic. But the damage is done, and I have no idea how the collective madness can be dismantled.
Every day, television news offers mutilated reports about Israel, almost all newspapers in Europe pile on through their correspondents, preferably putting forward Jewish self-haters (a tragic phenomenon in Jewish history) to make the republic of Israel even crueler than their moving-image colleagues claim.
So I thought: I’m going to check the website of the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS). No government institution in the West Bank and Gaza can be suspected of respect for the facts, because everything is political, especially the numbers, and everything must be seen in the Palestinian context of a corrupt, internal, tribal struggle for power and economic benefits. The PCBS figures will never nuance the situation in Gaza, but will, if possible, make it burst at the seams.
The PCBS reports in a recent Excel overview that in Gaza in 2005—when Israel handed Gaza over to the Gazans (who established a free Palestinian state there)—1,304,388 people lived. There are useful idiots who claim that those poor Gazans ended up in the largest open-air prison on earth and were unwitting victims of the Jews In 2022, a year before the surprise attack by the Gaza army on Israel, the population of Gaza had grown to 2,166,269, or an increase of more than eight hundred thousand.
And what does the PCBS say about the population size of Gaza in 2026? 2,411,790 people live there now. So 245,521 more Gazans than in 2022.
Sure, these are the official figures from the Palestinians themselves.
On the total population numbers including the West Bank (a name invented by Jordan), the PCBS is also clear: they rose from 3,508,126 in 2005 to 5,876,648 in 2026. An increase of 2,368,522 people, a population explosion since 2005 of 67%.
We know that Jews are good at math, playing the violin, and nowadays also at committing genocide—but that last skill must be doubted.
If the number of Palestinians, according to the PCBS, in ”the territories” has grown by 67% in twenty years, the use of the word genocide is an obscene lie to demonize the Jews.
